Hi....I'm Marilyn from Kansas City, MO!

I'm Dennis, recently arrived in Overland Park after 3+ years in Carlsbad, NM.  Back to my hometown, Kansas City generally, and Gladstone specifically.  My wife and I are now waiting to close on a house in Independence.  Treading water and biding time...
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

Hello Truth Seekers.

Originally from beautiful Wisconsin but moved to northern Texas, because they are "friendly"  :dsunny:

1Jn_5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

it makes sense to me that hell is not an eternal torture but what if someone like hitler or people who have slaughtered and tortured people without mercy and then died and received no justice for their crimes on earth. wouldn't it seem unfair for god not to give them some kind of punishment after they die?

Cranny, we have discussed this very subject at great length (and depth!).  My take on it is that God's justice does not demand that some be punished for eternity, for justice is tempered with mercy.  In fact, I have stated that God's justice was to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us.  Do we need Hell in addition to that?  God forbid!  The purpose of punishment is correction, or it is just simple sadism.  I see the Lake of Fire, the closest thing to Hell in the Bible, as a place to punish, to correct, to burn away our wood, hay, and stubble, and therefore to be left with the gold, silver, and other precious things the fire cannot burn.  Once cleansed, and remember how often God describes Himself as a cleansing fire (or even as soap!), the punished is taken out of the Lake of Fire, and so is able to enter the Kingdom:  Salvation for All!  Otherwise, how can God ever be All in all?

BTW, welcome to Tentmaker!  :friendstu: :gimmefive: :friendstu:

Welcome Cranny, and actually Jesus said murder was in the heart.  Right now, there are millions who would repeat Hitler or Stalin, if given the chance.

What I believe based on Romans 1 description of recompense and wrath is that sin itself is a punishment, and Gods wrath is experienced internally, the internal destruction that Hitlers sin causes him.  I believe he will be resurrected but will not be alive to God until he hears the words of the Bride to come and drink of the true water of life. His inner torment and spiritual death will be released when he bends his knees and confesses with his mouth.

Reconciliation of ALL requires a lot of forgiveness..........you Must forgive those who tresspass against you,or your Heavenly Father

will not forgive you. Justice is sin in the flesh is condemned in all..Grace and reconciliation is forgiveness and healing of all who

 died in Adam.

Also, Christian religious culture is stronger in the south, where there personal identity is still often wrapped up in the generational beliefs of their denominational and family churches. (My family is from the south- all in the Carolinas).
