Hi friends

My name is Mike.

I've recently come to a belief in Universal Reconciliation in the past year through the writings of Josh Foreman (joshuaforeman.blogspot.com) and have continued to study the subject through writers such as Gerry Beauchemin and Charles Slagle.

I hope to have good, thoughtful discussions with you all.

Welcome Mike! I'm so glad to hear that you have come to see God's big picture. The fact that more and more are 'seeing' is a sign of the times.
Here's looking forward to a bright future.

Hi Wings

Your name reminds me of the legend of the Phoenix Bird! I love that story.

"Our Wings are Burning" is one of my favorite songs by a band named Virgin Black.

I wrote about the song in a blog on myspace a while ago (I was posting the lyrics to my favorite songs and why they were my favorites.  Also, the "Josh" mentioned is the same Josh Foreman I mentioned in my first post.  The other song he mentions is "Beloved" from the same album):

Virgin Black: "Our Wings are Burning"

We fell in love, with dust in our lids
And the pain of a severed soul
We lowered our heads and lifted our face
Placed our bodies in celebration
Pour the ointment of grief
On the lips of a mutilated man
I carry the bones of a deformed child
And with my own polluted breath
I speak the old man's words
In a persuasive eloquence
Bless the dust that hides
This unlamented head
Look at my face
Do you see God?
On the crest of fire, our wings are burning
How glorious the pain
And the ways of God, shriek out of tune
All is lost but hope
On the crest of fire
Our wings are burning
To the wind's anthem
All is lost but hope

I could write something here, but my friend Josh (Scrybe) from the bleedzao.com forums puts it much better (I hope he doesn't mind):

"I talked to Samantha (The woman who wrote these songs.) about these lyrics and found that these two songs were about what I was going through. Our 'wings', she said, represent everything we think will bring us freedom and happiness. When we find they don't, it's like they burn away. It's a painful thing, but ultimately should lead us to find the true source of freedom. God's ways are so out of tune with the way the world of mankind works and orders itself, so it seems bizarre to find glory in the pain of our burning wings. But there is beauty and truth in it that can't be comprehended until you have gone through it. Until you really have lost everything except Hope. And then turn to Him."

You can actually hear the song on my myspace at www.myspace.com/michaelcd

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes!

Thanks for sharing the song, Mike.  We haven't heard from Josh in a long time.  Hope he's doing well.

That was beautiful,    I have not heard the song yet but  what you said about it  makes a lot of sense though.
