I remember for the longest time, I had favored Easter, seeing it as a very powerful and victorious holiday. There was always some type of awe I had for Jesus death and ressurection. But could never figure it out what made it so awe inspiring. The hymns and readings in reference to the ressurection I remember being very powerful. However the doctrine of Hell I remembered watered down any religious holiday, including Christmas. I could not help feeling no awe for either of these holidays after learning about the doctrine of hell. The gospel turned into a psychopath god who had an unquenched wrath for humanity, and grudgingly sent his son only to open a very hard door to find within a limited amount of time or burn forever. The Gospel seemed very watered down to me, and the only joy was that there was a possibility that you could escape these horrible punishments. However the truth assures all people salvation from a God who is all powerful and all loving, who can break the chains of death, and will do so.
