Red letter Bible
« on: November 22, 2009, 11:41:01 AM »
There are red letter Bibles. The words of Jesus are in red. But why? Many say because what Jesus said is such perfect teaching. Then I wonder why the words of Jesus were any better than say those of Peter?
Peter's writting are HS inspired so they are of divine quality too. In fact even teh words of Jesus are HS inspired. Otherwise it would mean that the 12 have written down the teachings from memmory years later.
I think we don't need to argue how 'perfect' human memory is...

So can I conclude the red letter editions are nothing more that a way to make some extra cash?
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

For me it was to distinguish   the Lords Word   as prominent
in a book full of words .

Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

And why are the words of Jesus more prominent than those of Luke, Rose?
The words of Luke are inspired by the HS that is very able to let Luke write down perfect words.
Now I'm at it; did Jesus speak or was it the HS in Him speaking.
In that case only the body was different.

Note: I'm not saying Luke is equal the Son of God.

So if all scripture is perfect because it comes from the same perfect HS why isn't James in red?
It's equally divine.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

LOL ,, Its all good to me

But I know what you are saying , I have an all black ink Bible

but I also have   the in red letters" Christ Words"  edition too

I  believe  the  Holy Spirit inspired it all  and maybe even more  but it was  removed
I actually like the red letter  edition  better , maybe a eye and mind  concetion in it ..
but  the Holy Spirit  in which Jesus Christ was concieved in    SPOKE

It just goes to show you How patient God is with us  :HeartThrob:

I only have black and white versions in print.
But I bet a RoseRed Bible is pretty  :HeartThrob:

Well I made my point.
I'm very aware Jesus wasn't the 13th apostle but the Master. So I can really understand why people like the red letter Bible. It's just that some (not you) seem to imply the words of Jesus are extra true.

:cloud9: That's really a good point, WW. Did you ever notice this one?

Acts 13:2 KJV
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted , the Holy Ghost said , Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

If they could hear the HG speaking that clearly to them, I doubt they had trouble writing under the anointing. Blessings...

Cardinal,

Does that mean the Gospel of Barnabas is real scripure too?

Seperate can also be something negative: Strong: in a bad sense: to exclude as disreputable.
So it could be argued Saul was called to do good work and Barnabas bad work.
But Barnabas helped to spread the Gospel so I guess he was on the good team...
