New Wine
The wine is dripping through the leaves
As the grapes are ripening in the sun
And the flavor is flowing through the vine
Anticipating the harvest to come.
The clusters are filling the harvesters' hands
And the vats are singing, to the sound
Of the dancers feet that will crush the fruit,
"Let the lees return to the ground!"
The barrels will be full for the wedding feast
The bouquet will shout as the wine is poured out
And the bread will be risen, all finished, the yeast
Having spread, at last, throughout.
The Bridegroom will drink, His friends will too
At the table the song will resound
The song of the Bridegroom who calls His Beloved
And Her virgins all gathered round.
"Come drink, Wine without money!
Come eat, This bread is free!
Be filled, Rejoice and Make Merry,
Come sit at this table with me!"
"Come all who are burdened, Come all who thirst
Come any who hear the call!
We have broken the vintage saved up for this day
The New Wine is pouring -Come ALL!"
