I had always wondered how some get it right to do a url link like read here and the code behind it.

Using URL's (Internet links)

To get the url codes use this button

"[url ][/url ]" you will get this.  replace the 1st ']' after url with '='

[url =http://somesite/]Site Name[/url ] (leave out spaces in the [] brackets)

example:

[url =http://www.biblegateway.com/]A searchable online bible[/url ] will give you this

A searchable online bible

You can also do something like;

[url =http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=50]John 3:16[/url ]

This gives

John 3:16

This one is fun

Using the [iurl ][/iurl ] feature

The iurl means in line url and will open in the same window.

In your profile - Forum Profile Information, in your signature highlight and Copy + insert this code:

Code: [Select]
iurl=http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/index.php?
action=pm;sa=send;u=nn]Send me a Personal message[/iurl]

Replace the u=nn with the 2 or 3 digit number you will see in the address bar, this is your user number.

Click Change profile and you're done, simple  :bigGrin:

You can also provide a shortcut to view all your posts like this;

Code: [Select]
[iurl=http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/index.php?
action=profile;u=nn;sa=showPosts]Check my Posts[/iurl]

You can also use the iurl on links you post in a similar way

Click the insert hyperlink which gives [url ][/url ] (no spaces) then simply insert an "i"

[ iurl][ /iurl] or [ iurl =http://link]title or name of link[ /url]

The iurl opens in the same window and allows the user to navigate back and forward.

Remember, no spaces in the [ ] brackets else it will not work.

Blessings
