After speaking to a Christadelphian i discovered that they do not believe that people before Jesus will receive a Resurrection. They claim that the Jews never conceived of a Resurrection idea. What are the forums thoughts?

We can see the idea expressed by Job in the OT, and by Mary, the sister of Lazarus (the other Lazarus) in the NT.  To my knowledge, only the Sadducees denied the resurrection, and that is why it even needed to be mentioned in the Gospels.

Even if they had no idea, we here believe it was God's Plan, and He will carry out His Plan whether men know and/or approve of it or not.  That's part of the difference between religion and faith.

You are saved, being saved, and are going to be saved.  Nothing is more dependable. :dsunny:
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

From what I gather, because there are only two acknowledged references to a resurecction in the OT (Isaiah 26:13 and Daniel 12:2) and they are of a somewhat late date, a lot of scholars have suggested that the resurrection is of Persian descent.  As a result, we find little about it in the writings.

Secondly, and I may have the fuzzy end of the lollypop here, resurrection in a Jewish sense was more about nationhood, then about individuals. Once the Jews were restored to their homeland, the dead would be resurrected.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

IMO, mary would have freaked out when Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life" if she hadn't heard it before. She calmly stated that Lazarus would be resurrected on the last day like "everybody knows that."
"Why do so many people think that the Bible is only inspired at certain points -  and that  THEY are inspired to pick out which points?"
No matter what others may say or write, only the word of God is the word of God.
