Ok, I discovered I have IE8 on this other computer that I only use occasionally. I tried putting a long message in the textbox and the jumping scrollbar effect is still apparent. I couldn't get to the bottom of the message and continue to type, the scrollbar kept popping my cursor back up into the middle somewhere of the message.
I just clicked the "compatibiliy mode" button on the browser, though, and now I'm trying to post a long message again.

Ok, with IE8 operating in compatibility mode, there's no problem posting a message that extends below the bottom of this message posting box.

P.S. I'm disappointed, as well, that the admin area which the Moderators need to use does not work right in IE, either in this new version of the forum software.
But, at least IE gives us the ability to switch to compatibility mode and have things work ok. If an older version of IE, though, which does not have the compatibility mode option is used, there may still be problems for which I have no idea what the correction would be.
