Hi White Wings,

I saw they said that version 1.1.11 had been fixed, but then why are some of our members here having the bouncing textbox trouble?

I'm eager to see if our people here can try the compatibility mode and solve the problem.

I hope we get some more feedback.

Karen

P.S. I just noticed a thread about the IE8 problem from May 2010 here.

Did a few simple tests with IE8.
Replying gives zero problems.
Quoting something and then adding something gives huge reproduceble problems.
The compatibility button solves it.

(In my tests) Using "Quick Reply" never gives any problem.
(But it's too limited for serious posts.)

Cardinal, I can't reproduce the problem in Chrome.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Sometimes we just get around the problem, leaving the direct solution to another day,  though that always puts a burr under my saddle (or, is it a pea under my mattresses?)  Write what you will in another word processing program: notepad, MSword, another browser.  Then, copy/paste into tentmaker.  Voila!
I went to church; but, the Church wasn't on the program!  JESUS WANTS HIS BODY BACK!!  MEET WITHOUT HUMAN HEADSHIP!!!

Thanks for everyone's help.  It appears there's at least one more issue.

Karen,

You are gonna hate me for this reply :laughing7:
I did some tests on the Simple Machines Forum and couldn't reproduce any error.
They use v2

That works but quoting, smilies, colors, etc will get more difficult that way.

Haha, I don't hate you for that, I  :girlheart: you for your persisting in trying to find a solution.

I'm going to investigate what it would take to upgrade the forum to version 2.

New upgrade works for me but it seems to be a tad slow on the uptake.

Slow is my middle name  :icon_jokercolor:

I think that browsing will be at full speed after your first session. My guess is that icons and stuff need to be recached.
Could also be the new layout is a little "heavier" graphic wise....
Maybe the crew can consider alternative themes

Is compressed/zip transfer on Karen?

Ok, White Wings  :gimmefive: encouraged me to upgrade the forum to Version 2 and I approached the task with no little trepidation, but,  :cheerleader: the forum is still here and I'm so happy I feel like dancing.  :Gdance:

Please let me know if you notice any malfunctions.

Thanks!
Karen

Suggestion/request

Maybe the crew can consider alternative themes
So are faster loading than others. Things are always a trade-off.
The fancy layouts require higher resolution, faster internet to be usable.
A no fuss theme may be the best solution for those with dail-up.
Some like lots of (contasting) colors, other like a simple easy on the eyes look.
So my suggestion is to install several themes. Then each user can select his/her own favorite theme.
Of course including a christmas theme  :icon_jokercolor:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Could this be why I can't get on in my original name then?  It wouldn't let me log on at all so I had to reregister in a new
account.

People look around because there are useful new things.
For example the WYSIWYG button.
Far right on the second row of icons. Red brackets with a pointer.
If WSYWIG is on you immediately see what your post looks like.
So while editting bold text shows as bold text and not [ b]bold text[/ bold]

Karen,

The Christmas theme doesn't look ok here.
The group buttons (Admin, Mod, 300, 500, Silver, Gold etc) are gone.
The reply options are also gone...
No smilies.
No editor options.

Unless ofcourse you are still uploading :P

So is easter, cross, clothes by the church leaders, new years eve, halloween, the names of the days of the week, etc

So cheer up and enjoy life. :laughing7:

Hi everybody,

I've installed several alternative themes for the forum. You can login to your profile and look around, try out the different themes.

I'm not going to force any theme change on the forum members, you can choose to use the one you want.

I'll look into the font size issue.

Ok, I made an adaptation of the default theme, it's named largefont. You can login to your Profile, then click on the Look and Layout section, then look for the link near the top that says Change. You will get a page with same views of the available themes. Largefont will probably be the last one on the page.

The larger fonts make the heading of the page look kind of goofy, but this is the best I could do on short notice to accommodate the older eyes (like mine, too :secret: ).
