Inserting links to Bible verses
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:49:43 AM »
Just a little effort, one can make posts a little easier to read.

Lets say I am quoting John 3:15-17 but do not want to copy+paste all the text, here is how to provide a link to an online bible.  (using Biblegateway. com)

In your text where you have the text John 3:15-17 do this.  Highlight the text as shown an select the insert hyperlink button as shown.

This will give you

After the 1st [ url] insert an "=" like [ url=]

To get the bible text link, open a tab to Biblegateway or the on-line bible of your choice.

Type in the verse(s) and select the applicable translation and press search.

In the address bar, double-click to highlight all the text in the address (url) and right click and copy.

come back to the text in your post and paste this in after the "=" (right click + paste or Ctrl+V)

if you want do make the link so that it opens in the same tab/window, just add an "i" in front of the url tags like this

This will render what you have done like this

Blah blah blah John 3:15-17 blah blah blah.....blah. (click it)

Blessings
