Interesting little thing. I thought about your post, thinking there are other scriptures that may at least SEEM to indicate otherwise. That many are not sheep of His pasture UNTIL they're saved. Honest question - aren't there some scriptures, Paul maybe, that talk about being strangers, at enmity with God, etc? Maybe that could mean disobedient children/not as yet gathered in, etc., rather than that they're not God's children to begin with
. Anyway, the "interesting little thing" I thought you'd appreciate is, I thought of the scripture "why does the HEATHEN rage...". That's the way I'd heard it all my life. Did a little search, and the KJV (which I was raised on) does in fact translate it that way. HOWEVER, several others, including the literal Young's says it very intererstingly this way;
Why have nations tumultuously assembled? And do peoples meditate vanity? Ps 2:1
and the NAS this way;
Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? Ps. 2:1
