The Inescapable Love of God is definitely a must read. Not sure if I still own a copy with some of the nonsense of the last few years, not to mention going thru the fire and flood with the beginning of this year
If there were a top 20 list that no personal library should be without, besides Elhanan Winchester's "The Universal Restoration" and Andrew Jukes' "Restitution of all things" this would be another one of them. I'm not sure that Jan Bonda's book is really heavy on scholarship, but it's a thorough book as a UR commentary on the whole book of Romans. Jan Bonda's book was the book that got thru to me with UR when Charles Slagle's "Absolute Assurance" (first edition) didn't quite get thru to me on the subject. So, I'll always have a personal fondness for Jan Bonda's book 'cause I still even remember the page number that got thru to me.
Harold Lovelace's book is also a must read for those that already have the message down and aren't necessarily looking for a good argument for it, but are wanting to have a handy collection of most of the Scriptures that cover the subject in one easy to reach for resource. I'm hoping he's already got the second edition out with much more Scripture, but if not, the old faithful one with over 600 passages of Scripture that are either the specific promises, principles, and precepts of the Bible regarding the Universal Restoration or that establish the correct usage of the Scriptural vocabulary so that we know we're supposed to take these Hebrew and Greek words to specifically mean these things is still a good resource:
http://www.haroldlovelace.com It's basically a good study outline to not only take you thru the specific verses from the KJV that promise the Universal Restoration, but also the other verses that help to establish that this is the correct reading of those Scriptures.
It's startling to think thru it as someone with either a Charismatic or Word of Faith background that those of us in those camps believe in the atonement's provision of wisdom, the baptism with the Holy Spirit, the realities of righteousness and being a totally born again man, and God's provisions of protection, renewal of youth, healing, wholeness, and wealth, including financial, [as well as dominion in and of this life,] probably on fewer Scriptures than Dr Lovelace has compiled in that book on the subject of the Universal Restoration. Yet whole hospitals and cemetaries have been emptied out on these other Biblical truths, over the course of the 130yrs they've been emphasized, but yet even the most faithful in UR circles have emotional struggles with the faithfulness of God -- most of which is from not being well grounded in the other truths I've just mentioned -- but, even with a Word of Faith background, it took me 42 months of going thru more Scriptures than Harold Lovelace does in his book before I could put my mind at ease after 20yrs of nothing but the eternal abandonment paradigm as a foundation to all of the rest. In some ways, the Church background helped with knowing how to really hang on to God for the complete revelation of the Universal Restoration in the Scriptures until the Holy Spirit clarified that it was the teaching of all 31,173 verses of the Bible. In other ways, might of helped to have started with an unchurched clean slate 'cause of fewer emotional bondages to an old system. The unchurched come in with their own form of religious systems, but with not as many dogmas many times.
Another great book is the one that Randy Klassen put out "What Does The Bible Really Say About Hell?" It's a good overview of every single passage in the Bible that has the word "Hell" in it, and it's remarkably thorough for a small book and ideal for something to whet someone's appetite for the subject as perhaps a tract -- although a hundred and forty-four page tract or however many pages it is. But if you know of any real whiners about having to read a thick book, this is the one to hand them.
