not sure where I should post this... other world religions?
« on: November 25, 2008, 03:52:03 AM »
I wasn't sure where I should post this, since I didn't see a specified forum for it.
But my question is this- how should we view the other world religions? I see some valid points in some of them- Buddhism has good ethical teachings, for example, and I like the way Hinduism teaches that there are various ways of experiencing God(the four yogas). I think some of them have some truths, but I know ultimately the only way to God is through Christ.

What are your opinions?

They're human inventions. We were created in the image of God, so it's not surprising that human inventions resemble God's plan and design. I'm sure a lot of man made religions have terrific aspects to them. But they are only a shadow and type, a cloudy reflection of the real deal. Others are just plain counterfeits, crafted as much by Satan as man, to misled and misdirect God's children away from Him. Only Christianity offers a risen living all human all God savior, who we can have an intimate loving relationship with.

Good way of putting that! None of the other religions have grace either.

Religions don't "choose" you either.  You must choose to follow them.  But only God calls and chooses us first.  Only God has already provided you with access to enter into him . . .through Christ.  The religions of men require acceptance through works.  You gotta "do" in order to "become" a member.  In Christ, you already "have" been redeemed without even "doing" anything.  The "doing" comes AFTER realizing what was already DONE for you.

The attraction of these religions is dealing with moral value and carnal wisdom.  Christ is Spirit . .and where the Spirit of the Lord is . .there is LIBERTY.  Try maintaining your own routine in these other religions.  It won't be long before you get to the point where every one of them at one point and time will tell you . .either "conform" to "this" rule or belief . . . or you can't become one of us.

Christ has already done the required work necessary for us to enter into the kingdom of truth.  Our acknowledgement of this work (asking Christ in your heart is that acknowledgment) gives Christ access to our heart and our will so that His work can manifest in us . .changing our will, our desires to become his will and desire so that we'll "do" his good pleasure.  Not because a rule says we must, but because his spirit is in us, causing us to "want" to become engaged.

Bottom line though, you don't choose Christ . . .he chooses you.

I agree. For example, in Islam, with all the rules a Muslim observes, she or he never has the assurance they will go to Heaven.

Unless of course the Islamic Jihadists  blow themselves up in a Jihad for Allah and murder as many infidels as they can. Then they not only get heaven but loads of virgins. Strange.
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

Yet they also teach suicide sends you to Hell(which I don't believe). I personally believe Islam to be a demonic religion.

According to some islamic thought, Hell is only temporary.  Some Muslim speaker on the History Channel.
