on this mountain
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:39:09 PM »
I'm looking to put together a word picture of the day of judgement.  Basically put together a list of scriptures that have to do with the negative and positive aspects of that day (not necessariy in the same passage)
Here's a couple, would love some help please :cloud9:

ISA
25:6 The Lord who commands armies will hold a banquet for all the nations on this mountain. 14
At this banquet there will be plenty of meat and aged wine –
tender meat and choicest wine. 15
25:7 On this mountain he will swallow up
the shroud that is over all the peoples, 16
the woven covering that is over all the nations; 17
25:8 he will swallow up death permanently. 18
The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from every face,
and remove his people's disgrace from all the earth.
Indeed, the Lord has announced it! 19
25:9 At that time they will say, 20
"Look, here 21  is our God!
We waited for him and he delivered us.
Here 22  is the Lord! We waited for him.
Let's rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!"
25:10 For the Lord's power will make this mountain secure. 23

ZEPH
3:8 Therefore you must wait patiently 28  for me," says the Lord,
"for the day when I attack and take plunder. 29
I have decided 30  to gather nations together
and assemble kingdoms,
so I can pour out my fury on them –
all my raging anger.
For 31  the whole earth will be consumed
by my fiery anger.
3:9 Know for sure that I will then enable
the nations to give me acceptable praise. 32
All of them will invoke the Lord's name when they pray, 33
and will worship him in unison. 34

Obadiah
1:15 "For the day of the Lord 74  is approaching 75  for all the nations! 76
Just as you have done, so it will be done to you.
You will get exactly what your deeds deserve. 77
1:16 For just as you 78  have drunk 79  on my holy mountain,
so all the nations will drink continually. 80
They will drink, and they will gulp down;
they will be as though they had never been.
1:17 But on Mount Zion there will be a remnant of those who escape, 81
and it will be a holy place once again.
The descendants 82  of Jacob will conquer 83
those who had conquered them. 84
1:18 The descendants of Jacob will be a fire,
and the descendants of Joseph a flame.
The descendants of Esau will be like stubble.
They will burn them up and devour them.
There will not be a single survivor 85  of the descendants of Esau!"
Indeed, the Lord has spoken it.

1:21 Those who have been delivered 98  will go up on Mount Zion
in order to rule over 99  Esau's mountain.
Then the Lord will reign as King! 100

98:1 Sing to the Lord a new song, 2
for he performs 3  amazing deeds!
His right hand and his mighty arm
accomplish deliverance. 4
98:2 The Lord demonstrates his power to deliver; 5
in the sight of the nations he reveals his justice.
98:3 He remains loyal and faithful to the family of Israel. 6
All the ends of the earth see our God deliver us. 7
98:4 Shout out praises to the Lord, all the earth!
Break out in a joyful shout and sing!
98:5 Sing to the Lord accompanied by a harp,
accompanied by a harp and the sound of music!
98:6 With trumpets and the blaring of the ram's horn,
shout out praises before the king, the Lord!
98:7 Let the sea and everything in it shout,
along with the world and those who live in it!
98:8 Let the rivers clap their hands!
Let the mountains sing in unison
98:9 before the Lord!
For he comes to judge the earth!
He judges the world fairly, 8
and the nations in a just manner.

Man, those are some of the most beautiful verses in the book- definitely among my favorites.

These verses are a continuous thought of Paul's in Romans, but I cut them down to these main ones for brevity

(Rom 1:16-20)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

(Rom 2:5-16)
But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who "will render to each one according to his deeds"-

eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For there is no partiality with God.

For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)

in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Isaiah 49
1Listen to Me, O islands,
         And pay attention, you peoples from afar.
         The LORD called Me from the womb;
         From the body of My mother He named Me.
2He has made My mouth like a sharp sword,
         In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me;
         And He has also made Me a select arrow,
         He has hidden Me in His quiver.

3He said to Me, "You are My Servant, Israel,
         In Whom I will show My glory."

6He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant
         To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
         I will also make You a light of the nations
         So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth."

8Thus says the LORD,
         "In a favorable time I have answered You,
         And in a day of salvation I have helped You;
         And I will keep You and give You for a covenant of the people,
         To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages;

9Saying to those who are bound, 'Go forth,'
         To those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.'
         Along the roads they will feed,
         And their pasture will be on all bare heights.

10"They will not hunger or thirst,
         Nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them down;
         For He who has compassion on them will lead them
         And will guide them to springs of water.

11"I will make all My mountains a road,
         And My highways will be raised up.

12"Behold, these will come from afar;
         And lo, these will come from the north and from the west,
         And these from the land of Sinim."

13Shout for joy, O heavens! And rejoice, O earth!
         Break forth into joyful shouting, O mountains!
         For the LORD has comforted His people
         And will have compassion on His afflicted.

Isaiah 2

Now it will come about that
         In the last days
         The mountain of the house of the LORD
         Will be established as the chief of the mountains,
         And will be raised above the hills;
         And all the nations will stream to it.

3And many peoples will come and say,
         "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
         To the house of the God of Jacob;
         That He may teach us concerning His ways
         And that we may walk in His paths."
         For the law will go forth from Zion
         And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

4And He will judge between the nations,
         And will render decisions for many peoples;
         And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
         Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
         And never again will they learn war.

5Come, house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

10Enter the rock and hide in the dust
         From the terror of the LORD and from the splendor of His majesty.

11The proud look of man will be abased
         And the loftiness of man will be humbled,
         And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

A Day of Reckoning Coming

12For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoning
         Against everyone who is proud and lofty
         And against everyone who is lifted up,
         That he may be abased.

13And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are lofty and lifted up,
         Against all the oaks of Bashan,

14Against all the lofty mountains,
         Against all the hills that are lifted up,

15Against every high tower,
         Against every fortified wall,

16Against all the ships of Tarshish
         And against all the beautiful craft.

17The pride of man will be humbled
         And the loftiness of men will be abased;
         And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

18But the idols will completely vanish.

19Men will go into caves of the rocks
         And into holes of the ground
         Before the terror of the LORD
         And the splendor of His majesty,
         When He arises to make the earth tremble.

20In that day men will cast away to the moles and the bats
         Their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
         Which they made for themselves to worship,

21In order to go into the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs
         Before the terror of the LORD and the splendor of His majesty,
         When He arises to make the earth tremble.

22Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;
         For why should he be esteemed?

Eze 36

4Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD. Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the forsaken cities which have become a prey and a derision to the rest of the nations which are round about, 5therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who appropriated My land for themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and with scorn of soul, to drive it out for a prey." 6'Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, "Thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My wrath because you have endured the insults of the nations.' 7"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, 'I have sworn that surely the nations which are around you will themselves endure their insults. 8'But you, O mountains of Israel, you will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come. 9'For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be cultivated and sown. 10'I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be inhabited and the waste places will be rebuilt. 11'I will multiply on you man and beast; and they will increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited as you were formerly and will treat you better than at the first. Thus you will know that I am the LORD. 12'Yes, I will cause men—My people Israel—to walk on you and possess you, so that you will become their inheritance and never again bereave them of children.'

 24"For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. 25"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26"Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. 28"You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God. 29"Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness; and I will call for the grain and multiply it, and I will not bring a famine on you. 30"I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, so that you will not receive again the disgrace of famine among the nations. 31"Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and your abominations. 32"I am not doing this for your sake," declares the Lord GOD, "let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel!"

      33'Thus says the Lord GOD, "On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places will be rebuilt. 34"The desolate land will be cultivated instead of being a desolation in the sight of everyone who passes by. 35"They will say, 'This desolate land has become like the garden of Eden; and the waste, desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.' 36"Then the nations that are left round about you will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted that which was desolate; I, the LORD, have spoken and will do it."

      37'Thus says the Lord GOD, "This also I will let the house of Israel ask Me to do for them: I will increase their men like a flock. 38"Like the flock for sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so will the waste cities be filled with flocks of men. Then they will know that I am the LORD."'"

Micah
And it will come about in the last days
         That the mountain of the house of the LORD
         Will be established as the chief of the mountains.

         It will be raised above the hills,
         And the peoples will stream to it.
2Many nations will come and say,
         "Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD
         And to the house of the God of Jacob,
         That He may teach us about His ways
         And that we may walk in His paths."
         For from Zion will go forth the law,
         Even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3And He will judge between many peoples
         And render decisions for mighty, distant nations.
         Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares
         And their spears into pruning hooks;
         Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
         And never again will they train for war.

4Each of them will sit under his vine
         And under his fig tree,
         With no one to make them afraid,
         For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.

5Though all the peoples walk
         Each in the name of his god,
         As for us, we will walk
         In the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.

6"In that day," declares the LORD,
         "I will assemble the lame
         And gather the outcasts,
         Even those whom I have afflicted.

7"I will make the lame a remnant                                                  vs 7 NET:   I will transform the lame into the nucleus of a new nation,  And the outcasts a strong nation,
         And the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion
         From now on and forever.

In that day the LORD will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan the twisted serpent; And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.
(Isa 27:1-6)

In that day, "A vineyard of wine, sing of it!

"I, the LORD, am its keeper; I water it every moment. So that no one will damage it, I guard it night and day.

"I have no wrath. Should someone give Me briars and thorns in battle, Then I would step on them, I would burn them completely.

"Or let him rely on My protection, Let him make peace with Me, Let him make peace with Me."

In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout, And they will fill the whole world with fruit.

Isa 40
1"Comfort, O comfort My people," says your God.
2"Speak kindly to Jerusalem;
         And call out to her, that her warfare has ended,
         That her iniquity has been removed,
         That she has received of the LORD'S hand
         Double for all her sins."

3A voice is calling,
         "Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness;
         Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.

4"Let every valley be lifted up,
         And every mountain and hill be made low;
         And let the rough ground become a plain,
         And the rugged terrain a broad valley;

5Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
         And all flesh will see it together;

         For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
(Rev 11:15-19)

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,

Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Ain't it wonderful?  :grin:  :bigGrin:  :happygrin:  :HeartThrob:

We are His temple :o) The veil will be rent and we will see Him as He is and know as we are known!

Rev 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

(Psa 132:6-18)
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah, We found it in the field of Jaar.

Let us go into His dwelling place(tabernacle); Let us worship at His footstool.

Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place(tabernacle), You and the ark of Your strength.

Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your godly ones sing for joy.

For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.

The LORD has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: "Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

"If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever."

For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.

"This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

"I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her needy with bread.

"Her priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.

Rev 3:21  'He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Rev 21:7  "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

(Rom 8:14-23)
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,

and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope

that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

"There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.
(Psa 132:17)

"His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon himself his crown shall shine."
(Psa 132:18)

(Heb 6:17-20)
In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath,

so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,

where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

WHY AM I GROANING? BECAUSE THIS HOPE< WHICH REACHES BEYOND THE VEIL IS SO AWESOME< AND SO GLORIOUS< IT HURTS!!!!

What do you see this to mean to you?

Joh 16:33  these things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation, but take courage--I have overcome the world.'   :bigGrin:
Mic 7:8  Thou dost not rejoice over me, O mine enemy, When I have fallen, I have risen, When I sit in darkness Jehovah is a light to me.

It sounds to me like he's restoring us back to our original realm . . .our return to the garden of Eden.  The realm of the natural is now the realm of the spiritual . . .the emphasis, the influence, the dominance of "this" cursed earth was reversed spiritually on the cross and will also be reversed literally when the "end" has come.

 I agree. Kingdoms, principalities, every tower that exalts itself against the true knowledge of God will fall in the presence of the Light- that God is love and he that loves knows God and is known by Him- That God is light and in Him there is no drkness at all, and whoever hates his brother walks in darkness still- That our God is a consuming fire, and in the end He will be ALL IN ALL, and ALL WILL BE IN HIM< DWELLING WITHIN THE EVRLASTING BURNING, shining and not being consumed. The glory of God will fill all things. Maybe even beyond Eden. Even above and beyond all we can ask or think ;o)
