From what I have noticed, the religions claiming to teach the truth of Christ seem to have committed the most serious religious autrocities.  Plus the religious claiming to stem from Abraham have committed the most serious autrocities compared to the modern day religions of this age.  As we have seen historically, the Churches have committed some pretty serious crimes against humanity.  The Catholic Church had done some terrible things throughout the middle ages, such as the crusades, inquisitions, and many other ones.   The Protestants did much of the same things.  Hanging of witches, theocracies, anod other such cruelties.  Modern Christianity is not nearly as violent as it was.  However those Evangelical Fundamentalist Churches seem to be doing some pretty crooked things today.  Picketing funerals, promoting hate against others, racism, spiritual abuse, you name it.  Now most of the so called Abrahamic Traditions have been doing some bad things too.  From my understanding, Islam has only been attributed for crimes against humanity in this current century.  For the most part of history, they seemed less violent than the Christian Churches were.  Jews for the most part were a mistreated group in Europe.  Today, there are many Jews in Israel who are abusing the Muslims.  However I have not seen too many Eastern, New Age, Humanistic, or indigenous people committing the serious autrocities committed in Christianity.
I have noticed that the people who are the most strict about religion, and know the bible the best seem to be the least Christ-like.  From my personal experience, they do not seem to portray very Christlike behaviors.  In fact, they do quite the opposite, yet claim that they follow the whole bible, and not just the good stuff.  If you ask me, they seem to gloss over the good stuff, but seem to over exadderate all the not so pleasant stuff.  They will over exadderate "Fire not quenched and worm dies not", "Impassable Chasm" as meaning everlasting punishment, but twists plain statements made in scripture "every knee", "all in Adam, all in Christ", "Good news and Great joy for all people".  They tend to water down those statements to mean something that they clearly dont mean.
Now the Atheists, Agnostics, non-Christians and Christians labeled as "Lukewarm" seem to portray a much more Christ-Like attitude than the Strict Christians.  Some Atheist comedian "George Carlin" I think his name is.  He did a comedy routine on the belief in Everlasting punishment stating that God is love, but he's gonna burn you.  He even got the absurdity of the teaching, but unfortunately got stuck in this situation where he believed that was what the bible taught.  Many people I think leave Christianity because they cannot stand all the hypocracy displayed in their churches.  No wonder less and less people are even bothering going to church.  I honestly  cannot blame them, considering how they claim to be "Saved" while showing a spirit of hate, arrogance and self righteousness towards everyone else.  Ghandi said "I like your Christ, it is your Christians I dislike".  He knew what the bible taught, and said he would become Christian, but only unless they changed their ways.  Ghandi was a Hindu, reading the bible with no traditionalist biases, and he saw right past the Christians who were behaving badly, and using the "Hellfire" terror to keep their pews full.  Not to mention all the money scams at the hands of traditionalism.  New Agers though they dont believe in any form of Judgment(Probably because of a lack of understanding of the true nature of Judgment) understand a supreme force of Love and forgiveness.  Some of the greatest Christians of the past and present were those who were often seen as Heretics.  Mother Theresa for example believed in some form of Universal Salvation, and believed in an all loving God, and she was one of the greatest humanitarians in our day.  I think she believed that it does not matter how you approach God, whether it be Buddha, Shiva, Allah.  Maybe a little off biblically, but she understood that Gods salvation went out to everyone.  Yet many hardcore traditionalists saw her as nothing but a fanatic.  However the non-fundamentalist world recognized her as holy.  Theres plenty of other Christians who dont know scriptures real well, but know of a loving God, and are much more loving.  However the hardcore Traditionalists, such as John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Kennedy, Matt Slick, Tom Brown, Bill Weise, and Mary Baxter, all hardcore traditionalists and I dont see any of them helping the poor, comforting the sorrowful, or doing good services.  In fact all I see them doing is selling garbage, making hateful statements towards everyone else, yet they are highly orthodox "bible believing" Christians.
We would be expecting that just because these people know the bible, orthodox Christians who do not compromise their beliefs to conform to a changing world are the most Christ-like, since they except the whole bible both pleasant and unpleasant.(Even though they exadderate the unpleasant and gloss over the pleasant), more willing to defend unpleasant truths, and saying politically incorrect things to those who do not hold to their ways.
However we would not expect the all loving new ager, pagan, "Lukewarm" Christian, or atheist to be Christlike at all, and completely against the bible.
So it seems like satan is hiding where you least expect him:  Those who claim that they are the closest to Christ.

"It seems like satan is hiding where we are least expecting him."

Of course!
Jesus met satan at the pinnacle.
But, praise God, Jesus realized what spirit brought Him there and why.
Be not deceived and test all spirits, for some appear as light but do not express the Spirit of God.

HE IS.

If I recall from the new testament, Jesus came down real hard on the religious leaders calling them sons of the devil.

Very good post, you are observant of how the different religions seem to have more Christ like qualities, but yet you also realize that the bible is the word of God and recognize judgment. As for hell fire preachers I sometimes think that what they do is an act of love, in that they are desperate to save people from hell, even if that means they use fear tactics, but I find that when one believes in hell it must be a constant frustration that countless people around them dont belive in it, so sometimes they might appear desperate to try and convert people a bit like the prophets of doom, who shout woe woe the world is falling, but yet Jesus himself was a very cool customer, who went about without urgency, and even took the time to do magic tricks such as turning water into wine, doesnt sound like Jesus was worried that some people were at that very moment being cast into hell, for they knew not Jesus, if hell were real I think that Jesus would have lost his sanity, for their fate would depend on him getting to them in time before they died. But God is confident that he can raise any man from the dead, just as Lazarus was.
