The angels declared at Jesus' birth "Peace on earth, good will toward men".

Jesus said don't think He came to bring peace, but a sword.

He also said "my peace I give to you, not as the world gives..."

Any thoughts, insights, or further questions on peace, the different contexts of it, which parts fit where?

John 12:47  ...  for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Not exactly the word peace; but I think save and peace are very closely related.
To me the verses seem to contradict.

I've got some thoughts on it, but a little uncertainty as well as to exactly how to reconcile these verses.  That's why I'm bringing it up.  I think there are good explanations, especially when taken in their proper contexts, but probably worth exploring a little bit.

That last quote ties them together. The world will hate you for the peace you have given, like Joseph's brothers hated him for the coat his father gave him.

The Sword is the Word of God.  It is by the word of God that we are liberated from fear of death.

That is what I pray and long for, when things seem to be falling down around us people hate us judge us when family is falling apart or troubles to many to mention.
 I want that peace you are speaking of Cardinal.
I am closer than I once was but still need that stable peace.
 I then and only then can pass it on to the hurting and the sick.

When Christ is "formed and birthed" IN YOU!!! The trees of the field
make peace with you.  The "end" of a man is peace.  Psa. 37.
The journey from a seed planted IN YOU to the SEED germinating
and becoming "formed" ......Paul said, My little children, whom I
travail, for Chist to be "formed" in you.  When the Covenant of Peace
promised to Abraham was made, it was spoken as a "promise"
When it was fulfilled, it was made to be by the OATH. Christ
is said to be made by the OATH, the Oath maketh the Son.  Hebrews.
Even the beasts of the field will be a peace for your sake, can
you imagine a child on the hole of an asp, that is what the Covenant
of Peace promises!!! That much peace .........and who is there that
can disturb when the LORD "gives" Peace.  Hold on, for at the timing
of the Lord, all this Word will be fullfilled, IN US.  Jabcat, you know
all this.
