Do you love yourself?

I was wondering if we really love ourselves?  I have read, that what we see in others that we don't like, is because we are looking through our image of ourselves. 

Loving who God loves.  ME.

Yes I do... I've learned to, even though I'm kind of an idiot at times. I'm done hating myself though. In my flesh nature dwells no good thing, but that has all been crucified so the awesomeness inside me is Christ, and I love everybody. It's a lot of fun...

Not much most of the time. It has been a battle for me since getting saved and one of my wife's biggest frustrations in trying to change this in me. Thanks for asking. LOL

This reminds me of what a wise old black pentecostal preacher said one time. He pointed out that in counselling some people come to him so distraught and say things like "I'm so stupid, I HATE myself!" To which he responds "No you don't! If you hated yourself you'd be GLAD you were stupid!" Same thing for "I'm so ugly. I HATE myself!" - "No you don't! If you hated yourself you'd be GLAD you were ugly!"

Makes sense, right?

I think I first learned from the Lord how to forgive myself and then the loving came.  I saw a direct connection between my love for God and then myself.

Well loving oneself is paramount.  I agree that in part when you have offence with someone, God put a mirror in your face.  Sometimes we ned this to happen a lot before we get the picture.

Then again what is Love?

1Co 13:4  Love waits patiently; it acts kindly. Love does not envy [or, is not jealous]; love does not boast; it does not become haughty.
1Co 13:5  It does not behave disgracefully; it does not seek its own [things]; it is not provoked [or, irritated]; it does not keep a record of evil.
1Co 13:6  It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but it rejoices with the truth.

i personally hate my "flesh"

but my soul,  the  spirit man i seem to like more and more as Christ is formed therein

I dont think I really do love myself but I do embrace myself warts and all

but thats not necessarily loving myself

I like parts of me and dont like other parts and even the parts I like about me in the wrong situation manifesting end up not a thing to like and vice versa haha

Im a mess and would never marry me and yet my husband still sees me with that look in his eye, I realize that Jesus loves me thru him and that blesses me but what amazes me is that he loves me that way too. It boggles my mind, I would have walked out on me long ago and not looked back and thats the truth cause Im a lousy wife as far as Im concerned.

No one look at me and feel sorry for me and start trying to sooth me cause Im ok with not loving me, really.

Yes... I have learned to love myself... who I was when I died in Christ... and who I am alive in Christ through the resurrection power of His Spirit alive within through our union... manifesting the abiding Presence of Christ within.  Was admonished by the Spirit of the Lord ... how could I love another unconditionally, if I could not love myself unconditionally.... and since the Spirit of Love lives through me now... such must be brought to pass now.  When such is brought to pass... one rests in HIS love... one sees the finished product... Christ in another... redeemed or being redeemed, another translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness into HIS glorious Kingdom of light, walking it out, just like us. For such a one.... there is therefore no more condemnation or judgmentalism.

  Yes... have also discovered experientially, as I learn to love unconditionally... that which I react to in another is usually an unhealed place... or a blind spot. This one... who reflects an unredeemed aspect of myself back to me... (they may be walking in perfect redemption and spiritual maturity, just not in my eyes in the moment), is a gift... for they were sent to mirror something I need to see and could not see otherwise... hence the need for Father having brought then across my path in that moment. Likewise... what one admires in another... is usually an aspect of Christ one has not yet seen within themselves... and this one... was sent to open ones eyes to the redemptive side of their restored soul, if we have not yet seen ourselves through Father's eyes. AND.... sometimes we are shown something in another we have already overcome that we might be reminded of whence we came... and to see such, or experience such afresh within from a negative perspective, is a gentle reminder of HIS grace... and the power of the Holy Spirit within nudging us to stand in faith for their victory through Christ... for there, but the grace of God would still go I.... we must not forget... when one aspect of the body is ill... it affects the whole body... and instead of cursing such ... we can bless such by standing in that which is each of ours, since the foundations of the world... through Christ!

Yes, I used to read these passages and w/o LIGHT of them, w/o the RAYMA of them.....
I still can't explain them, but I can hear more of them, as time passes.  How beautiful
upon the mountains are the FEET of them that publisheth salvation!

Like everything else though, rightly dividing is the key. Paul spoke of 'lovers of themselves' coming in the last days, and it was no compliment. Bottom line is that if we know ourselves and others after the flesh, no good will come of it - whether 'loving' or 'hating'. If we know ourselves and others after the Spirit, then it is life to us and them -and the real agape love will result.
