New World Order - What Does It Mean?

I'm sure you're all familiar with the phrase "New World Order", first uttered (that I recall) by George H. W. Bush (Sr.) a long time ago (before Clinton's two terms).  And no doubt you all have probably heard a lot of mysterious talk about the coming of a 'New World Order'. 

Well, it seems to be quite in the front headlines again:

.....and I just wonder what you all think about it.  In my way of thinking, it's like 'the jig is up - the age is closing, the end is nigh, the battle of Armageddon is at hand, the Great Tribulation is on the doorstep.  We will soon be faced with some type of "world currency" it seems.  It's rather shocking really to have watched so much prophecy unfold before my eyes in my lifetime.  And I admit, at times, it is hard for me to hold on to joy because I feel that a great flood of destruction lies ahead for the earth.   I know not everyone believes this way at all.  Some people believe everything will just get better and better for the inhabitants of the earth.   When I read Matthew chapter 24, I don't believe all that was fulfilled 2000 years ago.  Anyway, I'm just talking to myself in public, I suppose.  There is nothing anyone can do to change anything that must happen.   And there is a part of me that welcomes the Day of the Lord because there is so much wickedness all around that I just want God to wipe mankind out.  I don't think I'm wrong is saying that.   I want HIM to do it.  And I do think God is all powerful and that he does DESTROY as well as MAKE ALIVE.  I don't buy into the line of thinking that God's judgment upon the land is not something to tremble at.  That he is just all nice and never angry.  The scriptures do not teach that.   If anyone wants to post any thoughts on the New World Order, I'd be interested to hear various views.   I can't talk about these things with my family - they avoid it like the plague.

I'll talk with you about it Anne, I understand what you're saying.  I'm personally open to other interpretations of Revelation, do (pretty much) believe Matthew 24 was fulfilled, BUT...I too see and am startled by things that are happening.  I grew up fearing the "end times", afraid I'd be left behind in the "rapture", and though God has grown me more into a hope and trust in His goodness and grace rather than my ability to be good enough to "earn an escape", I still am drawn to notice these things you mention, and still admittedly sometimes feel an uneasiness, if not fear at times.

I also wonder about these things we're hearing..."we need a world currency", "we need an international 'czar' of finance", "we need world-wide cooperation", and now we have elected our own "President of the World".  I hear you...I hear you...and there's an internal struggle within me that says "oh my gosh, what is happening"/"trust God, He knows how to take care of this to the good"...it depends on the day as to which side within me wins.

Oh good grief.  There's nothing new about these characters.  Their roots go back thousands of years into Babylon. 

Let's call it the Old World Order. 

They are liars and their father is the father of lies.

They have manufactured this to celebrate the hundred year anniversary of taking over our currency.

I hope no one thinks the current 'crisis' is happening by accident?  It was totally predictable by what they have been doing, especially in the last 8 years.

And, they have nothing good in store for mankind as witnessed by their intrusions into our private lives, their cameras everywhere, their black booted bodyguards, listening to our phone conversations?  Give me a break.  They are like the worst mother in law on steroids.  They are murderers and liars like their father.

If prophecy means anything, they are the ones who will be taken away, not us--it is the meek who will inherit the earth, not them.

Someday--soon I hope--satan will no longer deceive the whole world.

In previous centuries it was always about the Postmillenial hope of the global conquest with the Gospel. But it's become a favorite phrase for premillenial dispensational PARANOIA about the coming of a global kingdom of antiChrist that brands everyone with 666. And no, I'm not taking over the world. At least, not until Pinkie comes back to me.

Be a little patient with us that were raised in premillinial, rapture-filled, extreme, fundamentalist, "the tribulation is coming" environment, will 'ya   ?  Compare it to some things in your life perhaps...it can take a while to have these things work their way through...good, solid info is helpful

You can't blame that religiosity on fundamentalism 'cause although fundamentalism has historically become associated with certain areas of nonsense, the word "fundamentalist" means that it's supposed to simply be taking the Book at face value.  And at face value, in any translation, it doesn't say any of that mess!

P.S., at LEAST, in the end, I realize they're not going to be successful, because God is going to be All in All...however, in the meantime....the process

They are the ones that manufactured all that.  The rapture, the left behind, all that nonsense is out of their own heads to control millions of people who will just accept their fate passively.  The moral majority, the moral right, all manufactured.

They invented advertising, mass media, wars,  how to make you think you really really need to buy all that stuff you can't afford--it's all made up, illusion, smoke and mirrors.  They can sell refrigerators to eskimos.

They can't even lie very well anymore, and are found out almost immediately every time they pull something.

Anyone paying attention can see through them with no trouble.  But, most don't pay attention.

It is happening.  Resist it.  There are people working night and day resisting it.  Help them out.  There's plenty to do.

OK, now I'm hearing you both...my initial impression was a "pooh-pooh, ain't happening"...so OK, something's happening, again, I know they're not ULTIMATELY going to be successful, but boy they can cause a mess in the meantime...and I said I realize, "trust God, He'll fix it"...He'll take care of us, meet our needs.  Imagine this though...for 20 years you were beat several times a week with a 2X4..as an adult, even though you now know you can protect yourself, it may make you just a LITTLE nervous if someone started walking toward you holding a 2X4...not always automatically feeling comforted and secure  ...

Thanks for the conversation, James.  I appreciate your understanding of where I'm coming from.  I did not post this because I like fear mongering.  I posted it because I feel rather uneasy inside myself about the things I see going on around me on the outside.  I have always been a believer that there would be an END.  Jesus disciples asked him plainly (as recorded in Matthew 24) what the sign of the END of the world would be like.  And his answer to them did not sound like a parable at all.  It seems to me he gave a darn clear answer.  He also comforted people about hard times by saying things like "let not your heart be troubled.... ye believe in God, believe also in me".  I think obviously Jesus knew that perilous times would trouble our hearts, otherwise he would not have said over and over "do not be afraid, fear not - as well as all these things MUST be -- then comes the END.  Also Jesus said that the coming of the son of Man would be as things were in the days of Noah.  I assume that is symbolic of a FLOOD that is WORLDWIDE.  And yet, I think it may be a flood of fire rather than one of water with all these nuclear weapons we have pointed at one another.  And all the nations are gathered for war in the middle East - our headquarters is right in Babylon/Iraq now where the garden of Eden was - the cradle of civilization.   Anyway, I do thank you, James for your humility of spirit and willingness to let me talk a little bit about these things.
