We Have The Mind of Christ

By Gary Amirault baby on shoulders

“For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Cor. 2:16

I have been a believer in Jesus Christ for nearly 30 decades. I have been a zealot for Jesus. My mind is literally obsessed with the things of the kingdom of God. I do not apologize for that. There are many things about our Creator, His creation and the Bible I do not understand. The verse above is a mystery to me. “We have the mind of Christ.” Really? Does Paul mean we each, individually have the mind of Christ? Or is he saying the body of Christ corporately has the mind of Christ and we need to learn to connect, share and drawn from each other that we may not be lacking in any part? I don’t know, really, what Paul was saying.

The first three days after Jesus came into my life, I felt like a three year old on Jesus’ back, holding on to His neck while He went about His day. I could see with His eyes, hear with His ears and look deep into the hearts of everyone we met. I experienced His deep love for each person. I could hate no one. If the worst person in the world were before me during those three days, I would have felt deep love for that person.

So when I think about Paul’s statement about having the mind of Christ, I go back in my mind when I experienced the first three days of my conversion — a little boy on the back of Jesus, my head resting on His Anointed and scared head — He carrying me through His world seeing, hearing and feeling as He does. No work, no wrestling with doctrines — no worrying about what was right or wrong — just rest and wonder — my head resting upon His head — my hands holding on to His head. And if I were to have fallen asleep  high on his back, I knew His nail- scarred hands held me close and securely.

I feel very blessed to have come into Reality in such a manner. Having been an atheist prior to this wonderful experience, I realize many people will not be able to accept what I have shared. Many Christians will also probably not be able to relate or believe what  I have shared. But it is true nevertheless.

We each have our own gatekeepers in our minds deciding what to let in and what to thrown out. But in the end, THE Truth will prevail. His nail-scarred Hands has the whole world in His Hands — and that includes you. You may not know Him presently, but He knows YOU better than you know yourself. One day, you will find that out. Then you will know true love has a name.
