Christian Teenager Stabs Jesus
“I hate you, Jesus! I hate you, I hate you,” I screamed as I repeatedly stabbed Him with a knife.” After my rage was spent I collapsed at His feet. In deep compassion, He came down off the Cross and embraced me. That’s the vision I had last night at the retreat during worship time, Dad.”
The 17 year old teenager, daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher had the above vision during worship time at a camp retreat for youth. She was the perfect Christian child. Straight A student, highly respected by her teachers. Extremely conscientious. Often sharing “the gospel” with her friends and classmates.
And then this vision.
Over a period of years, this precious teenager and her pastor father would learn that the traditional “turn or burn” gospel of almost every denomination of Christianity was a false gospel unworthy to be shared with anyone. According to what Jesus told the pastor, any gospel that does not declare Jesus Christ the absolute savior of all mankind should be stabbed to death. That pretty much includes every denomination of Christianity!
This vision challenged the pastor father to dig into his beliefs, dig into his denomination’s belief, dig into Bible translations to discover the horror that he had been preaching a gospel which was no gospel at all – even worse – he had been preaching a gospel that totally misrepresented Jesus. It took him several years to come to that conclusion. His daughter’s vision was the catalyst to start him on his journey. It is very painful to be shown that we have misrepresented our Maker, our Father.
I (Gary Amirault) once had a 76 year old man email me after he had read many articles on our tentmaker.org internet site. He came to the realization that he had taught false concepts about God his whole life. It was a painful realization. Most of us are too much in our pride to lay down our false ideas. It costs us too much. We can lose family, friends, countries, even our jobs, our income, our respect in the community. Psychologists use a term “cognitive dissonance.” When we receive information that brings disharmony to our present belief system, we have a tendency to reject the information that makes us uncomfortable about our present belief system, especially if it relates to our religious or political views. This precious young woman and her pastor father would come to realization that all mankind will be saved through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They came to the understanding that the teaching of everlasting punishment in Hell for all those who did not make Jesus Lord and Savior of their life in this lifetime was a horrible lie. They came to discover what I call “The Victorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Paul called it “my gospel,” and the “glorious gospel.” It has been knows as the “restoration of all things,” (Acts 3:21) reconciliation of all, restitution of all, ultimate reconciliation, universal salvation, universal restoration, the Larger Hope, the No-Hell Gospel, universalism, the Greater Faith and Paul’s Gospel.
If the image of Jesus planted in your mind is one who fails to save all mankind, stab it to death, for it is not good news nor a joy to all mankind. The Hell Fire Gospel ( which is actually no Gospel at all ) makes the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Idi Amin, Moslem terrorists, etc, seem like super saints. Such God-dishonoring Gospel should be repudiated. Unfortunately, it is he corner-stone of orthodox Christianity. I believe the days are coming when men would weep and repent for misrepresenting The Holy and Righteous God.
