Entitlements?
George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-four (1984) should be required reading for every citizen of the United States. The language the elite used in his book to make evil sound good and good sound evil was called “newspeak.” Today, the news media, military-industrial complex, think tanks, financial industry and government are collaborating to squeeze more dollars out of the classes below the rich. The financial elite are working overtime using every ploy possible to hoodwink the average American using trickery only the most unscrupulous of people would use to lie to, cheat, and destroy decent law-abiding citizens. Language is one of their most powerful weapons.
There was a time when taxes (ugh) were called taxes. Most of us don’t like too many taxes but we know a certain amount is needful. Taxes are like vaccination shots, a few for the right things help prolong life. But too many of them will kill you! But today, taxes are no longer taxes, they are “revenues.” So when we vote against more taxes, we are withholding “revenues” from “our” government which they need to pay “our” bills. So we look like bad guys when we don’t support raising taxes. This is Democratic Party double-speak. What is double-speak?
Webster’s dictionary defines doublespeak with these words: evasive, ambiguous, high-flown language intended to deceive or confuse. In his best selling book Doublespeak, William Lutz gives us some keys to catch doublespeak:
misleads
distorts reality
pretends to communicate
makes the bad seem good
avoids or shifts responsibility
makes the negative appear positive
creates a false verbal map of the world
limits, conceals, corrupts, and prevents thought
makes the unpleasant appear attractive or tolerable
creates incongruity between reality and what is said or not said
Today, much of our killing apparatus has been privatized. Has privatizing killing people overseas to “protect” our interests and “way of living” been cost effective? No, it has not. These private companies shooting up third world countries for their oil and natural resources are literally making a “killing” stealing not only from the countries in which they operate, but making a “killing” off the average American tax–payer. The rich corporate heads and upper management of companies like Halliburton, Blackwater, General Dynamics, Bechtel, etc. live in lavish wealth, while the average American soldier wounded in battle has to fight tooth and nail to have his medical needs taken care of. After they destroy the infrastructures of these countries, these soulless corporations hire themselves back to rebuild what they blew up. And the average American citizen just goes along with the program, waves their flag and says, “God bless American.” Why does the average American not know what’s really going on? Because the media is in same bed with the corporations that control the government.
The Republicans have wanted to privatize just about everything including Social Security, one of the biggest “entitlements” that wall street thieving bankers have been wanting to get their hands on for quite some time. Social Security is the last BIG chunk of our money that the financial thieves of Wall Street would love to legally steal.
You and your employer sent 15 percent of your income before taxes to the Social Security Department. Another person did some calculations regarding social security. Understand, dear reader, it is YOUR money, not some bureaucrat’s or politician’s. He writes:
“If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500. If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working (that was me) you’d have $892,919.98. If you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you’re 95 if you retire at age 65) and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.
“The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madhoff ever had.
“Entitlement my butt, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn’t make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Congressional benefits, aka. free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that’s welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement, entitlements?!
“We’re “broke” and can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.! End quote.
Our government sends over 3 billion dollars in aid to one of the wealthiest countries in the world (Israel) and sends several more billion dollars to countries like Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan as bribes because of our aid to Israel. And our congress and President wants the poor and shrinking middle class to pay for it. During this recession, while the poor got poorer, the rich got much richer. And there are no signs this direction of dollars is going to change — not unless the poor and middle class understands what is really going on. The mainstream media isn’t going to tell you what’s really going on — they sleep in the same bed with the corpocrats. Wake up, tax-payer!

Gary , you are so correct, we here in American have slowly been pushed into a plutocracy, {corporatism} if memory of my history is not flawed that sir is called Fascism, I remember when I was a boy, reading about Robin Hood, it would seem today people especially on the right But not excluding the left but in my opinion on this one regard would consider Robin Hood a socialist , redistribution , and the Sherriff of Knottingham to be a really Hard working capitalist, what on earth Has Happened since I was a boy 60 years ago?
Gary, I see no problem with your “getting into” politics .
Karl Barth once wrote that we Christians should read the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other. Of course, we Christians are to be in the world but not of it but that doesn’t mean we can’t be a light in the darkness and sometimes that means getting involved in the political process as part of our democratic( should I say Christian ) duty. We have a two party system to show the opposites in views on different issues that allow us to decide which way we want to vote on things i.e. to vote our conscience. Are we not treating others as ourselves when we vote or another way to put it is ” are we trying to make the world a better place for everyone or just for ourselves only”? Sometimes the choices being presented on both sides don’t set well with us all the time but that’s what we live with in this country and to shun that opportunity to vote or express our Christian convictions by voting is wrong in my books. To participate in the political process is just another way we can live our faith.
There is very much wrong in politics, I agree with what you are saying. BUT, please do not ruin this great website by getting into politics. There is too much hate mongering driven by political professionals.
There are too many modern day Pharisees using religion, to appeal to the conservative christians, as a tool to collect donations.
Republicans LOVE entitlements. Your average Republican is lower-middle-class. I doubt most of them will be self-sufficient when they are elderly. In fact, I doubt most of them will have enough money to retire indefinitely. Most of these right-wing hypocrites will soon be dunking their glasses in the Koolaid. Of course, they will probably blame their economic misfortunes on the Democrats.
The military is an entitlement, even though millions of Americans do not pay federal taxes. If you don’t pay federal taxes, do you deserve military protection? If I purchase no fuel, do I deserve to ride my bicycle on public roads? If I pay no property taxes, do my children have no right to public education?
I agree with Clarence. (Not the “phoney” part!!) Your gentle spirit has led and guided me through the most wonderful discoveries of my life as I learn that the blood of the cross actually DOES save the WORLD and that “hell” has been a figment of perverted imaginations.
For years I was fired up and “hell-bent” on correcting the wrongs of our governments. Then, five short months ago, a dear brother shared with me the idea that there was no hell and and God actually saves the world. As I HOPED it was true, it collided with my Campus Crusade for Christ and Southern Baptist heritage, so I fervently studied to prove him wrong. Well, you know what happens when THAT happens!!
In my research I ran across an article at savior-of-all.com titled “God is Not a Republican.” I quickly realized all my ranting and raving just robbed myself and those around me of the peace and joy for which I was meant. Now the time I spent fuming with Rush Limbaugh is spent in research, reading, basking in the joy and knowledge that God truly is in control, that my Dad is NOT being tormented and burning alive, and that…the rapture already happened along with the new heaven and new earth??? Wow!! More study!!!
Gary, please, follow God’s leading. My opinion: Continue to share the “glad tidings” and leave the politics to the politicians. The airways are filled with the Limbaughs, the Levines, the Hannities. You are part of just a very few voices sharing the ultimate good news. I am so grateful to you and your site.

Gary, once again in my humble opinion, you are SPOT ON with this post. Thank you for your courage to step up and answer the call to both humility and TRUTH. The light must shine on the surrounding darkness within the ranks of religion, government and society at large!
Blesssings –

You are making a big mistake drifting into politics. And it makes a kind man come across as a phoney.
You might be right. And you might be wrong. Perhaps it depends upon your politics. I don’t adhere to any political party. I just don’t like people being defrauded and lied to by a corrupt government.
